Nic has played in and written for orchestras, big bands, jazz combos, and an eclectic variety of contemporary bands (i.e. r&b, rock, hip hop), and he applies his knowledge and skills acquired through all these experiences to compose, perform, and teach professionally. He has a BA from Loyola University in both Composition as well as Jazz Studies, he has won multiple awards in Composition, and he has produced multiple studio albums. Notable musicians Nic has studied and/or played with include Victor Wooten, Chris Potter, Saul Williams, Chuck Rainy, Snarky Puppy, Dr. Jimbo Walsh, Ron Carter, Miguel Zenon, Donny Mcaslin, Brian Blade, and many more. Nic often collaborates with producers, songwriters, composers, film-makers, singers, instrumentalists, and he is always happy to work with creative minds in new fields.
Composer
Nic writes for films, commercials, orchestras, small horn ensembles, small string ensembles, big bands, jazz combos, rock bands, hip-hop groups, electronic settings, and more. He has been composing music for 15+ years, and in that time he has written feature-length film scores, won awards, competitions, and gained a great deal of experience writing in a wide range of genres. Nic won first place in the Education Center of the Arts Composition Competition with his piece for cello and clarinet, and he won first place in Loyola Universities Composition Competition, for his orchestral piece. Along with classical composition, Nic is a seasoned songwriter, writing for the plethora of bands he's been apart of along with his solo project. Nic performs professionally on upright bass, electric bass, guitar, and voice in genres ranging from jazz infused hip-hop to acoustic singer-songwriter music.
